Ionia mayor Fred Green helped launch it in 1915 on the principle that admission should cost nothing. The first one opened August 16, 1915 with a parade of decorated automobiles through town. Source
Belding. The Belding Brothers company built its largest silk thread operation there starting around 1890 and ran four mills. The Belrockton, built in 1906, is the last of the three company boarding houses and is a museum today. Source
The Ionia County Courthouse. Designed by David W. Gibbs of Toledo and finished for about $42,380, it took its first county offices in January 1886 and is still in use, with upper walls of sandstone quarried nearby. Source
